Well sometimes it happens when your Symbian Smartphone
behaves unexpectedly and you need to Soft Reset or Hard Reset to get rid of
this situation. Well it’s a very simple procedure.
Soft Reset
your Device
Well Soft Reset will change every setting on your phone to
its default state. It will not erase your data in any way. So relax and don’t
panic to Soft Reset your device if anything goes wrong.
There are two methods to Soft Reset your device; I’ll
discuss how to Soft Reset your device through code. Note: I’m using Nokia 701
with Symbian (Nokia) Belle FP2 but this method applies to all Symbian Powered
Smartphones.
Follow these steps:
1. Open your Dialer
2. Type in *#7780#
3. It will pop up a dialog box Saying “Factory settings will
be restored. Phone cannot be used even for emergency calls during restoration”.
Tap on the Yes button.
4. Now you have to enter the Phone Lock code (default code
for all Nokia phone is 12345).
5. Your Phone will be restarted and settings will be
restored.
Hard Reset
your Device
If Soft Reset didn’t work for you, you can Hard Reset your
device. Hard Reset will erase all your data on C: Phone memory and E: Mass
memory it will not affect your F: Memory Card. It’ll also restore your settings
to its default state. Be sure to backup all your data before Hard Reset
(Recommended).
Note: I’m using Nokia 701 with Symbian (Nokia) Belle FP2 but
this method applies to all Symbian Powered Smartphones.
Follow these steps:
1. Open your Dialer
2. Type in *#7370# (it may prompt to end all active
connection, just switch your profile to Offline)
3. It will pop up a dialog box Saying “Delete all data
except on memory card? This may take several minutes and not even emergency
calls will be possible during this time”. Tap on the Yes button.
4. Your phone will restart, it will take longer than usual
to restart, so don’t panic.
Hard Reset if your phone is
Non-Functional/Bricked/Dead
Works on Nokia 701,
N8, C7, 808 Pureview
If you are unable to Hard reset from the above procedure or
your Phone is not functioning properly, then you can follow this procedure.
Press Volume Down + Camera + Menu button at the same time
for 8 seconds. It will Hard reset your Phone, and may takes several minutes to
restart your Phone.
You can try the above methods on s60v3 and s60v5 Smartphones
as well.
